Safehinge Primera, a product design company renowned for their innovation in the mental health sector, tasked us creating a wireless anti-ligature door alarm to combat suicide attempts in at-risk mental health in-patients.
This complex project involved the design of a bespoke two-part wireless sensor system, development of patented sensing algorithms, and full integration with the customer’s product in order to to deliver an award-winning solution vastly more effective than any of the competition.
We worked closely with the customer’s own engineering team during the end-to-end develoment journey; from basic concept through to prototyping, hardware and firmware iteration, design for manufacture, compliance testing and certification, and finally, volume manufacture.

We were originally brought on board to deliver a complete rewrite of the device firmware for a new Bluetooth chipset, expansion of overall product capability, and improvement of performance and battery life.
As hardware production issues arose we were additionally tasked with remotely identifying and troubleshooting existing overseas manufacturing and assembly process problems, resulting in a 95% reduction in DOA units for the customer.

We were approached by industry disrupting start-up Blind Spot Gear to lead the electronics design of a high-frequency, high power LED panel driver and modular control system. Developing the product from an initial concept required miniaturisation of high-power switching regulators alongside control systems, while also carefully managing heat dissipation. The resulting product exceeded perfomance expectations despite the challenging physical and cost constraints.
At the customer’s request, on completion of the design, we assisted them in navigating the tricky transition to full-scale manufacture and supply chain management with an overseas partner.

In situations where access is limited or portfolios are large, inspecting properties can be a time-consuming, expensive, or sometimes completely infeasible process.
Aether is an all-in-one solution for long-term, real-time environmental monitoring of residential and commercial property condition, regardless of occupancy or availability of utilities. Multiple sensors link together to form a property-wide network capable of reporting valuable data which, if missed, could result in expensive damage.
The project leveraged existing technologies (TRH/CO2 sensors, LoRaWAN, etc.), as well as some new, proprietary wireless protocols and power saving algorithms to create a system which can run for up to eight years without external intervention.
